    CUSTOM SOFTWARE / OWNERSHIP

Managed software or a source-code buyout?

Your business owns its data. A managed Axiom subscription gives you a team that builds, hosts and keeps improving the software; it does not automatically transfer the source code. If ownership of project-specific code matters to you, we can discuss a separate purchase.

    01

    Stay managed

In the normal arrangement Axiom retains the software and gives your team access to the hosted platform while the subscription runs. The scope of hosting, updates and support is agreed for your project. Your business data remains yours.

    02

    Request a buyout

We can prepare a proposal for identified project-specific code. We use the recorded billable hours of each person who worked on the project and that person’s applicable rate, whether a professional or student. A detailed valuation takes work: we tell you the rate and expected effort and get your approval before charging for that work. The final offer is agreed in writing; no ownership changes just because a calculation was requested.

    03

    What the purchase covers

A signed agreement identifies the code, rights, delivery and price. Axiom’s existing tools and third-party/open-source software are excluded or remain subject to their own licences. Hosting, future features and maintenance are not included automatically. Independent development means arranging your own developer and operational support.

    04

    Maintenance after a purchase

A separate maintenance arrangement may be available, with actual work billed at agreed hourly rates. Changes by another developer without Axiom’s written approval can affect what we can safely maintain; we review the impact and, if needed, revise or end the affected support under that agreement. Your purchased rights and data ownership do not disappear.

    05

    When is a buyout useful?

If your company needs independent development, a different provider or an internal team, a defined handover may be valuable. If you want the product to keep evolving with a small team that knows it, continuing the managed service may be simpler. There is no universal saving: scope, hours, infrastructure and the cost of a replacement team all matter.

The English terms govern. Confirm project-specific commitments in writing.
